Aurora's Crown - Sleeping Beauty Pin Up Cosplay Part 1

So I'm working on a little out of the blue project, a pin up version of Sleeping Beauty. It won't ever make its way to a con, but it has a few elements of techniques I wanted to practice and I already had most of what I needed - so far all I've purchased for it was one sheet of craft foam and a thrift store nightgown for a silk/satin type fabric. The whole thing cost me less than $3 and some supplies I already had!

 You will need:

- Craft foam
- Headband
- Glue
- Gold Spray Paint
- Gems (optional)

First, cut out the craft foam to form the basic shape of the crown. I used THIS TEMPLATE.

Glue it to a base - I used a a base from an old "Happy New Year!" headband. The foam is going to want to bounce off since it's been kept flat, so be patient and hold it for a bit until the glue starts to hold. I also used binder clips at the edge just to be sure. Leave to dry.

Once the glue has fully dried, spray paint. Remember, multiple, thin layers are key to avoid running paint! I placed it in a (clean) cardboard box to keep it off the grass. Allow to dry completely between coats.

And here is my finished project! At this point, you could add any additional gems if you wanted to, however I wanted mine to stay a solid gold like Aurora's.

I do think it's a little taller than Aurora's is, but by time I put a wig on, I think it will need to be that way to peak over the bangs that will need to be pinned back.

I also might add some teeth clips on the inner sides - it will depend on how well it will stay in a wig!

Cosplayer tested. Kitten approved.
